June 1, 2013 – Documentary Editing
Instructor Kelly Morris – $110 /$90 for members

Multiple award winning documentary editor Kelly Morris teaches this course on what is considered by many to be one of the toughest forms of film editing. The Documentary Editing Workshop takes you through the process of going from raw footage to a show ready for the screen. Topics covered include clip organization, story structure, approaches to editing picture and sound, working with music and composers, and preparation for both colour grade and mix.

June 15, 2013 – Assistant Editing
Instructor James Lawson – $110 /$90 for members

Learn beyond the technology what an editor’s assistant is required to do for a picture including loading and syncing dailies, managing key-codes and EDLs, managing discussions with the lab and post supervisor, and prepping the project for the sound editor. This workshop explains the roles of Trainee, second assistant, and first assistant, and how a first assistant as manager of the cutting room can be creatively vital.

June 29, 2013 – Intro to After Effects
Instructor Nina Helene Hirten – $110 /$90 for members

Learn the basics of After Effects with this introductory workshop. Get your footage from your NLE to AE and back, work with the tools available to you in AE and other useful tips. After Effects will be led by Nina Helene Hirten, who came into editing through a background in illustration and animation. As owner of Oh Just Peachy Studios Productions, she has served a wide range of projects from features and shorts to music videos and promotional videos. She has a BFA in Film Production (Hons.) from Ryerson University and has been a board member of the CCE since 2009.
