LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT RECIPIENTS TO BE CELEBRATED AT THE AWARDS!
George Appleby will be posthumously celebrated, with his family helping the C.C.E. to honour one of Canada’s great trail-blazers. He landed his first job on the CBC series, The Forest Rangers, in the early 1960s. He would go on to work steadily as an editor right up until his death in December 1999, cutting many of Canada’s iconic series and feature films, from Adventures in Rainbow Country, Street Legal, and Cold Squad to Outrageous, The Silent Partner, Isabel, and many, many others.
Also, Ron Wisman’s fantastic career in progress will be celebrated. Since 1970, Ron Wisman has been an integral component of the editing community in Canada. THE VIOLIN, one of the first films that he cut, was nominated for an Academy Award. Since then he has built an impressive resume with 89 titles to date, 39 of which are MOW’s; it is more than fair to say that he is at home in long form narrative.
